n1/ It is the weighted average estimated using data from the report of the interest rates sent by financial intermediaries every Wednesday to Banco Central de Costa Rica. Weights are the total balance of deposits by each intermediary.
n2/ A change on calculation methodology was agreed on October,2002 (see methodological reference).
n3/ On returns generated by interest there is 8% of tax retention.
n4/ As of October 16, 2018, this information on retail rates by intermediary group is not calculated and published anymore. As an improvement in the management of indicators by the BCCR, information on effective passive rates is been published (see structure of passive rates by group and term) with a greater availability of intermediaries and terms, it is available to the public since January 2016.
